Gianna Dispenza’s paintings, drawings, and sculptures focus largely on collective routine. While sweeping in scale and style, Dispenza’s consistent interest in daily habit offers the viewer a rich throughway into the variety and complexity of interior experience. Her work takes interest in both the psychic and social potentials that operate in tandem with our seemingly mundane actions. Dispenza’s life history of moving; uprooting and adapting to new places, has, by nature, informed her interest in people, place, habit and in the dissemination and mingling of the three.
Gianna Dispenza was born in Washington State in 1990, and moved between various American states, as well as Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Lebanon and the United Kingdom. She is currently based in London, pursuing her MA at the Royal College of Art. Her work is housed in collections internationally and she has exhibited across the United States, France, Italy, Lebanon, South Korea, and Great Britain.
